1-Effects of Exaggeration:
There are some effects of exaggeration in the story. Ajeet Babu exposes things humorously and ironically in extreme critical situation. Readers can’t help to laugh the way writer describes things. He is content even in bad circumstances. He thinks that he is benefitted as he doesn’t bother to wear sandal in other foot. Similarly there is no problem for him if living place is not suitable or objectionable.
In personal life Krishnan Verma has firsthand knowledge about poor people. In story he states that migrated people are starving on footpath. In fact they are insecure and far from home land. In such situation Ajeet Babu can’t lay his leg purposely but he may do so mistakenly. In bad circumstances it seems rather impossible to act mischievously.
2-Contemptuous Meaning:
Contemptuous meaning of exaggeration is the things far from reality. They people were starving on foot path. They eat grass and live under open sky. They have no shelter to live. In such situation women have to stay in open area. They were not as save as they can be inside the home. They all were homeless and unsecured. In such situation angry man could shout upon Ajeet Babu , abuse him, push him or kick him out of the group. He couldn’t deprive him of body parts in front of other fellows there.
Krishna Verma  writes ironically and humorously. Ajeet Babu is torched physically but still he is content. Man is missing a leg because of the horrible state, and yet he is glad because he "need wear only one sandal and thereby save on footwear".
It shows narrow mindedness under strong influences of patriarchal society. Far from homeland they had no shelter and eat grass. They are not secure and live in bad situation. In such situation someone can think neither to lay leg mischievously nor beat violently. They have some other genuine problems to consider. Priorities would be proper place to live, food to belly and earning.
3-Exaggeration for Effects:
Readers can’t help to laugh on the way writer describes things in the story. Some lines are full of humor and irony. Exaggeration of effects is that they can’t laugh on living in such critical situation. That is not their homeland as they are homeless. In hunger they can’t enjoy and sit be contented.
 Conclusion:
There is some exaggeration to some extent. They all were in critical situation and doesn’t have enough energy to fight or attack one another as they were not in prosperity. They were not secure or protect under the roof. Financially they were in extreme poverty who has no meal to eat and no place to live. Though they were in pathetic situation but there are elements of humor and irony .Readers can’t help to laugh. In this part of the story there is some exaggeration.
