In the story Pervez is a mature person and it is not possible for him
to change at once as his son wants him to do. Teen agers may do experiment and
change at once. Pervez becomes worried to
see his son’s different routine work . He watches him and asks colleagues advise
to handle things very well. He tolerates throughout the story because he loves
his son and doesn’t want to lose him.
Extremity:
People are advised to be polite and not to be so harsh in
religions. Habits take time to develop and to leave. Son’s way of talking is crazy
and insulting as, “don’t you know it is wrong to drink alcohol. He makes his face
full of disgust and censure. It was as he hated his father. If father grows
beard to please his son then he can change gradually. He was not a bad person and
was ashamed for a few things.
There are some reasons
of Pervez to expose fanatic.
He loves his son and doesn’t want to lose him. In the
incident of taxi he realizes that he has lost his son. He also feels insult in
front of his female friend. Besides, son has lost interest in future career. He
doesn’t want to value father’s struggle behind his education. He also doesn’t want
to get it that his father loves him and care of him.
When
he looks that he has lost his son he becomes out of control otherwise he has
been tolerating with patience. Hanif seems to twist the ending line, “ now who is
fanatic” to leave powerful effect on readers.
He has been exposing extreme behavior against his father by making insulting
face, think to leave his education, demand sudden change and misbehave in taxi.
Crazy:
There is monotonous conflict in son and father. To change
someone is not the game of the single day it may happen gradually. To please
his son he grows beard show that he has capability to change gradually. He
doesn’t want to lose his son and trying to do the things better while son seems
not to care of it.
